So many people have wondered how to get cosmetic surgery covered on health insurance. You might feel you "need" a nose job, boob job, face lift, Botox, tummy tuck, or some other type of plastic surgery. The fact is, "Plastic surgery is considered to be elective surgery and therefore is not covered on health insurance."
Is there a loop hole?
I'm glad you asked! There's always a loop hole. That's the country we live in.
The only way you're going to get elective surgery covered on health insurance is if you have an initial medical need. Let me give you an example:
Let's say you broke your nose and have been suffering from sinus infections. But, your nose is also crooked from the injury. 9 times out of 10 the doctor will append a cosmetic operation onto the medical one. The surgeon will be able to justify this since they're both so closely related. The insurance companies go along with this mentality all the time.
What if I don't have a medical need?
Sorry guys... you can't exploit the medical system that much. If you want a cosmetic procedure than you need an initial medical need. Otherwise you'll just have to save the money or apply for a cosmetic surgery loan.
