What is a non surgical nose job?

Have you wondered, "what is a non surgical nose job?"  It's a way of reshaping the nose by injecting it with Juvederm or Restylane.  These chemicles act like silly putty in the nose.  The doctor can then reshape it.  There is no surgery involved and you're awake for the whole thing.  You can actually tell the doctor what to do as he / she is performing the operation.  It's an ingenious way of achieving rhinoplasty results without the plastic surgery.

So, what are the pros and cons of getting a non surgical nose job?

PROS

  • No cosmetic surgery
  • You're awake for the whole thing.  So, you can tell the doctor how to shape your nose do as he / she is doing it.
  • It only takes 15 minutes *(commonly referred to as the 15 minute nose job)
  • Recovery time is incredibly less painful and is much shorter then a rhinoplasty
  • You won't miss any work
  • The cost of a non surgical nose job is pretty cheap

CONS

  • Swollen nose / bruising for 4 - 7 days
  • Results only last about 6 - 12 months.  However, doctors will claim that repeated injections will build up tissue resulting in longer lasting / more sustainable results.
  • The nose can't actually get smaller.  You can only create the illusion of having a more proportional nose
  • In rare cases it can cause discoloration in the nose

You can't go into a non surgical nose job expecting miracle results.  The procedure is somewhat limited in what it can achieve.  As previously stated, "the nose can't get smaller."  The Juvederm / Restylane just fill in areas of the nose to make it smoother and more proportional.  Think of it as silly putty in the nose.

Here is a before and after picture of a non surgical nose job.  If you look closely you will notice that just the top and tip of the nose have more volume.  This creates the illusion of a smoother, less jagged, and more proportional nose.  However, the nose isn't actually smaller.

True, that: Juvederm and Restylane dissolve back into the body within six months to a year, meaning you have to go back and go back if you want to maintain the look.

But there are about three places in the U.S. -- and one in California -- that offers permanent, non-surgical rhinoplasty. Be sure and do a Google search for that.

Oh, another thing: any non-surgical nose job can't do anything for the inside of your nose if you have blocked breathing. Also known as injection rhinoplasty, the procedure is only used on marks on the outside of the nose.

What's the name of these places and how do they achieve results of a permanent non-surgical nose job?  I've never heard of it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it exists.

In the West, you would want to contact Robert Kotler, MD. (www.robertkotlermd.com) In the East, try Eric Joseph, M.D. (http://ericmjoseph.com) Both use a substance known as Silikon 1000. Yes, it is silicon based but it has about 50 years of science and happy nose job patients to recommend it. To learn more, read the article quoting studies on what science knows about nose jobs with Silikon 1000. It's at: http://www.robertkotlermd.com/blog/2012/injection-rhinoplasty-%E2%80%93-verified-by-science/

Or, if that does not fit into your browser box, read the procedure description at: http://www.robertkotlermd.com/nonsurgicalrhinoplasty.php
